Scope
The participation of women and vulnerable populations in democratic processes is essential to achieving inclusive and equitable democratic governance in Africa. The same applies to the participation of young people. As Africa's youth are the driving force behind political and social change, it is essential to involve them in decision-making processes.

However, major challenges persist and hamper their active engagement. Women continue to face gender discrimination, social and cultural barriers, and limited access to resources and education, all of which compromise their ability to participate fully in political and electoral processes.

Similarly, vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, ethnic minorities and the economically disadvantaged often face systemic exclusion and marginalization, preventing them from exercising their democratic rights and influencing decision-making.

Addressing these challenges is essential to achieve the principles set out in the CADEG and foster democratic governance that truly represents and serves all members of society.
